Darkroom Shoot
Planning
The plan for the film shoot is to use a different variety of
cakes to the digital shoot. I will shoot this at home with natural lighting. My
aim is to do both the black and white and colour shoot on the same day as we
can’t get in the colour darkroom because there is no chemicals to use I won’t
really be focusing on this shoot. I will however make sure that I scan this
shoot in and contact print it. I will be using props such as cups, plates, knives,
forks etc. I will be using the same equipment for both shoots and the same
props and cakes as money is an issue to create all the shoots. I will try my
best to make sure they look different from one another and hopefully I will be
able to afford two different types of cakes along with the different props.
Evaluation
The black and white film shoot went better than the colour
but I am still not pleased with the outcome I tried my hardest when shooting to
get the settings right but for some reason I struggle with film a lot. I don’t really
like any images I shot in black and white which I am annoyed about but I was
never going to use film for my final images but it would have been nice to have
the option too. I got both colour and black and white film processed at Pro-Am.
I picked it up on the Friday and didn’t have a lot of time when I got back to
college in the darkroom, when I got in my enlarger wasn’t working and there
wasn’t any other spaces so we had to change everything round so I could get to
work and in the end I was only able to complete one image. I did the contact
strips and obviously had to change the settings until it was right so I was
actually pretty surprised I managed to get one finished. The colour film came
out absolutely awful I think I only got two images and the rest are too exposed
which I am very angry about because again I tried my hardest to get it right
but it obviously wasn’t correct. So all in all my film shoots where awful.
